We collaborated with Spatial Radio – a student run station broadcasting from the University of the Arts London Central Saint Martins – where one of our collaborators Teddy Godwin runs a weekly radio programme D.i.E. on Air, produced by Jess Sammut.
D.i.E. on Air embodies DIE (Diversity Inclusivity Equity) through surrealist play, live on air. Teddy and Jess, who are behind this weekly radio show, encourage an unpolished approach to understanding Diversity, Inclusivity and Equity, creating an alternative space with live involvement both in-person and online through call-ins, pre-recorded interviews, sounds and voice notes. Through online radio transmission and being physically present and visible in spaces that emphasise social cohesion, they aim to create a new, more social infrastructure for student engagement while featuring a plurality of voices and formats. This sounds right up our street!
On Tuesday 28th February we hosted the show around the Talkaoke table in The People Speak studio in Aberfeldy Street and were joined by the members of UAL’s Persian Arts Society. The evening was an opportunity to connect and converse on topics ranging from Persian art, building community, Iran as well as finding forms of creative expression and questioning own identity in a multicultural city like London.
You can catch new episodes by tuning into Spatial Radio every Tuesday at 5:30pm and by following their Instagram @die_on_air .
