Connect with your neighbours over a cup of tea & biscuits in our public living room. Share a story about the area. Whether you have lived here for years or just moved in, we’d love to know: What’s your favourite spot? What do you hum in the lift? What do you wish there was more of? What would make the estate a kinder place? We’d love to capture your story.

FILM SCREENINGS & TALKAOKE TALK SHOW – Booking required via this link (spaces limited)

At Haggerston Community Centre, 8 Lovelace Street, London, E8 4FF

We would love to invite you to the final event of the Estate Talks series! Join us for a screening of the award winning film ‘Estate. A Reverie’ (2015, 83 mins,PGCert) by resident filmmaker Andrea Luka Zimmerman and residents over seven years. Interweaving intimate portraits with the residents’ own historical re-enactments, landscape and architectural studies and dramatised scenes, Estate asks how we might resist being framed exclusively through class, gender, ability or disability, and even through geography…

We will also screen ‘Taking over King’s Land’ (2014, 23 mins, PGCert) by Gillian McIver about the mural project, which happened on the Kingsland Estate in 2012 in the run-up to the Olympics.

The evening will include a free-flowing conversation around the Talkaoke table – a pop up talk show by The People Speak.

Refreshments will be provided.

About the Estate Talks project

The Haggerston and Kingsland Estate has undergone significant regeneration over the past decade. This summer and autumn we are organising Estate Talks – a programme of free public events for the local residents to celebrate the community and imagine the future of the neighbourhood.

Find out more about Estate Talks here.

The inspiration for the project comes from an award-winning film Estate: A Reverie (2015) made with the residents of Haggerston Estate by Andrea Luka Zimmerman – also a local resident.
