75th anniversary – end of project celebration, where The People Speak will present the Festival of Britain Podcast made over the summer.

Each episode outlines social and historical context of post-war Britain and the Festival all the way to today. Is a series of interviews with local residents, historians, writers, social housing providers, architects, curators and artists we wanted to capture a diversity of voices and experiences, providing our listeners with an insight to the East End across the decades.

Festival of Britain: Poplar 2026 Celebration event

Friday 30th October, 3-6pm, Free entry

We’re bringing our 75 year anniversary celebrations to a close with a special event where we’ll share highlights from the past few months, celebrate everyone who took part and reflect on the impact we’ve created together.

Explore interactive exhibitions, enjoy a youth-created virtual reality game, read poems, try on 50’s inspired jewellery and listen to live music. Take in stories from 1951, share your hopes for the future and celebrate the people and places that shape Poplar today.
