Polish Cultural Institute, European May Fayre, Regent’s Park, 7-8 May 2011

On 7th and 8th May the Flemish Representation in the UK, together with the European Commission and several European countries, has organisied  a cultural event, the European May Fayre. Centre of the event was a Spiegeltent, a mirror tent built in Flanders around 1920, surrounded by food stalls and children’s animation, located at York Gate in Regent’s Park. The event celebrated the end of the Spanish, Belgian and Hungarian EU Trio Presidency and preceded Europe Day on 9th May. This cultural festival was open to the general public. The visitors could  enjoy both Belgian and Hungarian specialties from one of the many food stands that surrounded the tent, while students from the circus school from Leuven keept both children and adults entertained with work shops, stilt walkers and a percussion band. The People Speak in association with the Polish Institute invited all the visitors to join an interactive mobile chat show that brings people together around the Talkaoke Table to discuss and share their thoughts, ideas and stories.
