SUMMARY:New European Bauhaus - Brussels\, BE
DESCRIPTION:We are making our debute at the New European Bauhaus Festival! \n“First life\, then spaces\, then buildings. \nThe other way around never works.” \n(Jan Gehl\, Danish architect) \nBuildings and common spaces should be designed around the people who live in them. That’s why we place communities at the heart of the 2026 Festival of the New European Bauhaus. The Festival creates a place to understand people’s needs and aspirations and showcase projects that successfully reflect them. In doing so\, it demonstrates how an inclusive\, sustainable and high-quality built environment can foster community\, strengthen resilience and boost competitiveness. \nJoin us for the third edition of the Festival of the New European Bauhaus! For five days\, communities\, creators and changemakers will come together to celebrate creativity\, explore innovative ideas and shape a more inclusive\, sustainable and vibrant future. \nThe biennial Festival showcases the best practices of the New European Bauhaus\, the European Commission initiative that brings the clean transition to our built environments and improves everyday life for everyone. It aims to inspire communities to reimagine spaces\, design better living environments and drive sustainability and inclusivity. \nThe 2026 edition of the NEB Festival will focus on Democratic Engagement\, showing how citizens can be involved in shaping their communities\, and on Affordable Housing\, the foundation for strong\, inclusive societies. \n \nTalkaoke is The People Speak’s flagship television-style talk show. It’s up to the participants to decide on the topics of conversation. Each chat is a journey from one unexpected subject to another. It can be topical\, funny\, deep\, surreal\, or something else. The participants generate the subjects and the host in the middle keeps everybody engaged. The format is simple: the host sits in the middle of an illuminated round table\, and you sit around the outside and talk about whatever comes up. Just grab the microphone and air your views. \nWe will be popping up at the iconic Parc Du Cinquantenaire \n\n\n\n\n\n\nNew European Bauhaus Festival takes place from 9 to 13 June in Brussels. Expect a programme of a wide range of sessions\, activities and exchanges bringing together policymakers\, creatives\, researchers and citizens. Participants can join discussions\, workshops and interactive experiences designed to inspire new ideas and collaborations. \nThe New European Bauhaus brings innovation\, ambition and creativity together. It calls on all Europeans to imagine and build a sustainable and inclusive future that is beautiful for our eyes\, minds\, and souls. The New European Bauhaus is a creative and transdisciplinary movement in the making! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt is a bridge between the world of science and technology\, art and culture.\nIt is about leveraging our green and digital challenges to transform our lives for the better.\nIt is an invitation to address complex societal problems together through co-creation.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDiscover the NEB Festival programme and how to take part here. \n  \n

SUMMARY:LFA2026: Belonging - Talkaoke at SS Robin Launch Event
DESCRIPTION:Join Talkaoke at the historical Steam Ship SS Robin\, moored at Trinity Buoy Wharf and join an open conversation as part of the Belonging symposium launch event\, curated by Fitzrovia Noir CIC\, and held in conjunction with the London Festival of Architecture 2026 #LFA2026 \nTalkaoke is a pop-up talk show unlike anything else – a glowing round table\, a host in the middle\, and you driving the conversation. No agenda. No script. It’s up to you to decide on the direction of the chat. Grab the mic and take the conversation somewhere nobody expected. It can get funny\, philosophical\, political\, surreal or all of the above. Every voice matters. Every idea is welcome. On the night you are welcome to join our glowing ‘doughnut of chat’ for 5 mins or longer\, you can listen or take the mic and offer a new subject. It’s up to you. \nTalkaoke has been sparking unexpected conversations on street corners\, at festivals\, cultural events\, universities\, museums\, youth clubs (…) in the UK and all over the world. We appear everywhere there are people and a need to chat. The People Speak is an East London art collective behind Talkaoke. For us conversation is a creative medium. For almost three decades we have been creating live events that bring strangers together and help with collective decision making. We also run creative facilitation workshops based on our Talkaoke experience. In the world of polarisation our formats aim to create spaces where differences of opinion is encouraged and explored through a shared journey. Just show up. The conversation will do the rest. \nLocation: SS Robin and supporting Pontoon\, 64 Orchard Place\, Poplar\, London\, E14 0JW \nNearest stations: Canning Town via red bridge/City Island or East India DLR   Nearest parking: free after 5pm weekdays and all day weekends on nearby Aberfeldy estate \nLaunch event: 3pm-7pm Thursday 25 June 2026 RSVP: HERE (TBC) FREE TO ATTEND \nResponding to the London Festival of Architecture 2026 theme\, Belongingcelebrates the culmination of our current National Lottery Heritage Fund three-year programme\, as well as showcasing the impact of our public engagement in east London and northeast England over the last decade and a half. Outputs include a large chandelier made with Sixth Form students in Newcastle\, Lego constructions co-created with residents of Poplar from street installations by New York based artist Jaye Moon and contempary responses to Victorian photographic processes led by Jonathan Turner. Outcomes featured are the educational foundation that came out of the Tommy Flowers community pub\, cited at the House of Lords as “a new model of creative community engagement” and the long empty Post Office next-door that we developed intoMaking Space\, that acted as a springboard for testing out new ideas including two works that travelled to Venice for the Art Biennale and Film Festival 2022. After six years utilising meanwhile spaces on the Aberfeldy estate we returned to Trinity Buoy Wharf where we had run an artists residency programme from 2011-17\, now being given access to use SS Robinand its supporting Pontoon for events\, exhibitions and experimentation\, including visual and sonic works. An early intervention revisited here is a large pinhole image of the Post Office Tower\, created within a former advertising agency in Fitzrovia\, the neighbourhood where our CIC was founded. \nPONTOON EXHIBITION OPENING TIMES (NO BOOKING REQUIRED)  11am–5pm from Friday 26 – Sunday 28 June 2026 (FREE TO ATTEND) \nThe Tommy Flowers Foundation supports new ideas in science\, technology and the arts\, by awarding bursaries to emerging innovators and giving opportunities for collaboration and development through residencies \nSS Robin is internationally recognized as being the only complete Victorian steam ship in existence. A unique survivor from when Britain’s Empire was at its height and London was the world centre for maritime trade and shipbuilding\, she was launched in London in 1890 and sailed UK and continental waters\, carrying a variety of cargo under several owners before ending her career in Spain in 1974\, by then the last of her kind still sailing. \nLFA2026: Belonging \nThe London Festival of Architecture (LFA) is back for a month long celebration of architecture and city-making in June 2026. With activity happening across London\, the Festival will once again be platform for conversation\, testing new ideas\, promoting emerging talent\, helping shift us towards a more equitable\, sustainable city. \n  \n???? Photo by Brian Whar\, Instagram @brain_war \n\n

SUMMARY:Talkaoke and Quacktion Time at Pendle Festval of Culture 2026
DESCRIPTION:The People Speak are bringing their new format Quacktion Time to Festival of Culture in Pendle. Inspired by Stewart Lee’s quote “Satire is the same as here but with animals in it” we would like to get people to embody different animals with masks\, and join our “Question Time” style format with those animals representing various characters from current media. \nYou can also join the Festival classic – Talkaoke\, our flagship live\, television-style talk show! \n  \nFestival of Culture in Pendle\, where communities come together in solidarity and celebration of Art and Culture. We are delighted to be joined by our friends from Building Bridges and in situ\, who organise the Festival. \n\n  \n\nPhoto by John Williams \n
