How does Talkaoke work?
Talkaoke is an interactive talk-show, where the participants decide on the subjects. Each discussion is a journey from one unexpected subject to another: it can be topical, funny, deep, surreal, and everything in between. The format is simple: the Talkaoke host sits in the middle of a doughnut-shaped table and passes the mic around, inviting contributions and comments from each participant. Talkaoke host stimulates the collective imagination of the participants by expertly linking themes and opposing points of the conversation. Even though the session will have a central question and theme, we invite participants to be tangential and move towards related subjects. This way we create layers and frames of reference within the conversation, which helps break down the complexity of the central question and return to it later from new perspectives.
What’s Up Southwark? Talkaoke is made possible thanks to Southwark Creative Health & Wellbeing Partnership (SCHWeP), an innovative and inclusive partnership and informal cross-sector network of over 150 members addressing inequalities in health and well-being through culture.
