Talkaoke is coming to Thinking. Feeling. Acting – A Future Festival for Planetary Justice (Denken.Fühlen.Handeln – Ein Zukunftsfestival für planetarische Gerechtigkeit) in Bielefeld, Germany. 

Better energy transition through more participation? But how much participation is needed?

A better energy transition through good participation? What is “good” participation anyway?

And how could it help to transform the social mood towards “renewable energies” into a constructive dialog? The Conflict Academy ConflictA at Bielefeld University will explore these questions on July 1, 2025. It can and should be critical! Guests from specialist practice (participation/participation processes), the urban and municipal sector and from interest groups representing marginalized groups will provide impulses. They will bring different, even contradictory, perspectives on political participation processes.

Denken.Fühlen.Handeln – Ein Zukunftsfestival für planetarische Gerechtigkeit is organized by “Middle Education and Criticism of Racism” work group at the Faculty of Educational Science of Bielefeld University and the Welthaus Bielefeld e.V. In cooperation with many other actors, the diverse programme is developed and designed in a participatory process. The festival is an educational meeting place for people from science, politics, activism, education, civil society and the general public.

On 1st July Talkaoke is a collaboration with ConflictA – Konfliktakademie of Bielefeld University to explore critical perspectives on political participation. We are inviting experts in participatory practices, urban-municipal professionals, marginalized groups and general public to join a conversation around the Talkaoke table. We will explore diverse and sometimes contradictory views to seek a collective consensus.

ConflictA is the name of the conflict academy founded in 2023 at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence (IKG) at Bielefeld University. The work of ConflictA focuses on analysing and sharing observations, knowledge and experience around coping with conflicts relevant to society. This includes research into practice-oriented conflict intervention for civil society actors and services institutions such as (municipal services, educational institutions, public security) as well as the return of research knowledge in qualification and professionalisation opportunities. With a focus on knowledge communication and our own series of events on conflict cultures, we appeal to a broad target audience and invite to transdisciplinary work formats.

Eine bessere Energiewende durch gute Beteiligung? Was ist überhaupt „gute“ Beteiligung? Und wie könnte sie helfen, die gesellschaftliche Stimmung zu „Erneuerbaren Energien“ in einen konstruktiven Dialog zu überführen?
Am 1. Juli 2025 lädt die Konfliktakademie ConflictA, gemeinsam mit „The People Speak“, Passantinnen und Passanten im Herzen der Bielefelder Innenstadt ein, darüber gemeinsam zu reden. Was hindert oder motiviert Euch, Euch zu beteiligen? Welche Erfahrungen habt Ihr gemacht? Was frustriert, ärgert, freut oder fehlt Euch? Schaut vorbei und redet mit – Wir freuen uns!
