Welcome to the next meeting of The Women’s Network – East London, hosted by Poplar Union, and The People Speak who will facilitate this in-person and online session using Talkaoke – a live television-style talk show. Please register to attend online by following this link
The Women’s Network is open to women across East London who are members of community, arts and cultural organisations, local women’s groups, and local women residents. The network is co-ordinated by Alternative Arts who also run Women’s History Month in East London. The aim to raise the profile of women, share ideas, explore current issues and build a strong network as a supportive resource, providing inspiration for creating a more equal society.
The People Speak is an East London based group of international artists, academics and arts practitioners with a world-class expertise in getting people to understand each other. We use performance art, multi-media and technology to stimulate discussion, ideas, and actions in engaging, interactive and fun environments.
How does Talkaoke work?
It’s simple: the Talkaoke host sits in the middle of a round table and you, the participants, sit at small tables close by. Each table has a mic and you are invited to talk about anything they like. Each discussion is a journey from one unexpected subject to another: it can be topical, funny, deep, surreal, and everything in between. The conversation will be visualised live by a digital illustrator! It’s a drop in – so feel free to stay for as long or as little as you can.
How can I join in ?
